Wapello Elementary School has made the decision to purchase Chromebooks for daily student use. The teachers have agreed that it's a good idea. Now is the best time to consider how well those Chromebooks will perform. Because they are inexpensive, Chromebooks have a somewhat flexible screen. Soft case covers add a lot to the price. Insurance of $25 a year seems unreasonable on cheap devices. Most hard cases aren't worth the colorful plastic they're made from.
What Wapello needs is a Cranium. Built for school use and designed by a teacher, the Cranium protects the most vulnerable part of the Chromebook. As an added bonus, Craniums double as whiteboards for those times in class when it's more appropriate to leave the computers closed and work on something that the teacher can see, like a math problem.
The math is not a problem when it comes to Craniums, since the lowered breakage rate pays for the covers in one school year.
