Lutheran Care Center Corporation Assessment

This FREE website assessment is for Lutheran Care Center Corporation at http://altamontlcc.org/. It was completed by Luthernet Website Services in order to help those who run the program see what can be done to spread their message more effectively using the internet.

Framework
This seems to be a Shockwave Flash Embed website, though I am not familiar with this as a website framework. In fact, I think of Shockwave Flash as more for games and crashing Google Chrome than for building entire websites.

Mobile-Friendly
The Lutheran Care Center website is not mobile friendly, according to Google. The test says the following:
  • Clickable elements too close together
  • Uses incompatible plugins
  • Viewport not set
  • Text too small to read

Wow, the incompatible plugins diagnosis is a new one, but it makes sense, since NONE of the menus (all Flash) show up on my phone. This means there's no place to go on a phone. And the website design has nowhere to go but up from there. Here's a link to the test on Google.

Other Issues
Lack of any navigation whatsoever on mobile is pretty huge. Besides that, you can tell there was a lot of time put into this website at some point. It's just hard to say whether that was five years ago or a decade ago.

Another major issue, especially one sporting an old-school design, is that the Current Events menu item leads to a spinning wheel of nothingness. This implies there are no current events and that the business may no longer exist. The links to contacts has similar timeouts.

The little animation in the upper left looks like something from a Nintendo NES title screen from the late 80s, not that I dislike the retro feel. In fact, I had this great idea that senior living centers SHOULD be outfitted with furnishings that would remind residents of home, like the wood/goldtone/orange chandelier in my dining room. However, these blasts from the past probably should not include the business website.
